Morey Evans Creates New Identity for Ricochet Networks

Today Ricochet Networks, Inc. unveiled a new brand identity created by Denver-based advertising agency, Morey Evans Advertising. Ricochet is in the process of launching high-speed wire-free Internet using proprietary technology and a radio-based network.

Under previous ownership, Ricochet marketed primarily to the active business traveler, or "power user on the go who needs to stay connected as a lifeline to business," according to agency principal and designer of the logo, Julie Morey.

The goal of the new identity was first and foremost to create a mainstream brand that would appeal to anyone who wants high-speed Internet access, not just business people.

"A recognizable, approachable, memorable brand identity is crucial for a company with such a potentially large mainstream user base like Ricochet," states Morey. "We brought equal measures of clarity and fun to the design, helping to give the Ricochet technology a sense of simplicity and accessibility, but also the stature of a big consumer brand."

The logo includes a treatment of the "o" in the identity that is evocative of a caroming action not unlike a ricochet.

Explains Morey, "It's a great word and a great name... the logo leverages the inherent equities in the word itself."

Ricochet Networks plans to begin its wire-free Internet service later this year. Morey Evans was tapped as agency after a search that included agencies in New York City as well as Denver.
