Can technology marketing be successful in the absence of complicated selling propositions and technical specifications?

Ricochet Networks provides high-speed internet access via wireless technology. Morey Evans Advertising invented a new brand identity and brand position for Ricochet – utilizing online, print and television – that would resonate with a cynical consumer who no longer believed the promises of the big telecommunications companies and was tired of confusing, complicated product offerings.

The Ricochet alternative? A brand based on "Antenna Love." We turned the Ricochet modem into an icon and a personality — an easy-to-get-along-with, lovable personality. By abandoning the typically complex communications of internet and telecommunications companies in favor of simplicity in every brand expression, we depicted ease of use and application. The modem icon, paired with bold and vivid use of the color orange, created a high impact visual approach that stood out in the cluttered advertising environment and differentiated Ricochet from its competition.

Our branding and marketing efforts successfully launched Ricochet, acquiring 35-60% of all new broadband households in the targeted geographic areas.
